What are the best multiplayer games for xbox 360?

1)Whats the best multiplayer (NOT ONLINE XBOX LIVE) game in your opinion? and 2)Whats the best xbox live multiplayer game in your opinion? and im not talking about role playing games like WOW or Zelda or any crap like that and not like mario carts and stuff (not nintendo-like games) and not like mario carts and stuff (not nintendo-like games)

2. I would definitely try Call of Duty 4/5. I played Call of Duty 4 on the 360 back when it was new, very addictive and awesome. Then again, I guess it depends what genre you like. You could also give the Halo series a shot, but I never really liked them. They're pretty good for offline coop, though. Gears of War is fun, too. Can be played coop with a friend. I've also heard Saint's row 2 has offline coop, but I've never tried it.
3. rockband one or two and any of the guitar hero games.great for playing with friends and/or on xbox live
