Are the top selling video games a sin?
Examples: Halo Call of Duty Gears of War Left 4 Dead All of these include murder, death, guns, blood, violence, war, etc. You "are" committing the crime, just in another reality.
Public Comments
- A sin would be committing the crime, not just watching it.
- Only if you act it out in real life.
- Is it a sin to dehumanize people in order to kill them, or to desensitize oneself from killing others?
- dude chill out
- No. They're just games.
- Grand Theft Auto 4. Sin? LOL
- in and of themselves, no they are not sins but they can lead to sin for example, after the Columbine shootings, police found a bunch of violent movies and video games in the room of the two gunmen
- no its not a sin to play video games its a sin to commit these actions of murder and to cause death in real life.
- I still play those games. I feel guilty about it though.
- No. But if one goes into character for real and thinks it's reality that could end badly..that would be a sin.
- In L4D, you're killing zombies. They are already dead so that doesn't count. I haven't played the other games. If you think about it, every video game is about killing/capturing someone or something.
- No. They're not exactly good things to be playing, especially not for children, but it's not like the gamer is actually out shooting aliens or whatever.
- Well you never murder anyone for real, kill anyone, use a real gun (pushing a button isn't very similar to pulling a trigger), blood that is pixelated, violence that is simulated and war that is conducted with countless respawn points. If you contend that these games would induce one to sin then you would have to include books, movies, tv, reality (there is blood and death in the real world as well) and anything else that could lead to any of the things you included above.
- no they're loads of good clean "Christian" fun add bioshock dawn of war GTA and especially postal to the list for more love and compassion
- These scriptures should definitly help you to make a good decsision for yourself asto how god feels about things we decide to entertain ourselves with (Psalm 97:10) . . .O YOU lovers of Jehovah, hate what is bad. He is guarding the souls of his loyal ones; Out of the hand of the wicked ones he delivers them. (Psalm 119:37) . . .Make my eyes pass on from seeing what is worthless; Preserve me alive in your own way. (Psalm 11:5) . . .Jehovah himself examines the righteous one as well as the wicked one, And anyone loving violence His soul certainly hates.
